Cancer is a significant health issue in Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ). It is estimated that 30-50% of cancer cases in NZ are
preventable.
Alcohol consumption contributes significantly to the overall cancer burden in NZ, causing seven different types of cancers
(cancer of the throat, mouth, voice box, food pipe, breast, bowel and liver).
This research asked a sample of NZ adults about their awareness of cancer risks (focussing on alcohol and diet) and support
for evidence-based policies to reduce exposure to alcohol risk factors and reduce alcohol-related harm. This infographic
