Dr Nicki Jackson - Executive Director
Nicki joined Alcohol Healthwatch as the Director in February 2017. She brings extensive academic and practice experience in health promotion and alcohol harm reduction, in particular. Her background comprises: developing and delivering training in evidence-based public health in Australia, leading the Health Promotion undergraduate degree at AUT University, and managing the alcohol and tobacco regulatory and health promotion activities of the Auckland Regional Public Health Service. Her work in public health evidence has been recognised by the World Health Organisation. In 2016, she completed her PhD investigating adolescent alcohol use in New Zealand and won the University of Auckland Vice Chancellor's Excellence Award for best Doctoral thesis at the University in 2016.

Suzanne Lopes – Office Manager
Suzanne has partially completed a Bachelor of Business (Accounting). She has worked for Alcohol Healthwatch since 1994. Suzanne undertakes a variety of financial and administrative tasks for Alcohol Healthwatch. She provides invaluable support to the team particularly by co-ordinating the information and resources.
Christine Rogan – Health Promotion Advisor
Christine has a Bachelor degree in Sociology. She joined Alcohol Healthwatch as a Health Promotion Advisor in 1996. The primary focus of her work is to reduce the negative health effects associated with alcohol consumption during pregnancy. As part of her role, Christine is the National Coordinator of the Fetal Alcohol Network New Zealand (FANNZ).
Veng Ian (Esther) U – Health Promotion Advisor
Esther joined the team on 3 June 2015. Esther has a Masters of International Public Health (University of Sydney) and is currently undertaking another Master degree in public policy at the University of Auckland. She has over 11 years’ experience working in Government and NGO environments, working on policy, advocacy and campaign management. Her most recent role was campaign manager for Action on Smoking and Health (ASH). Her role at Alcohol Healthwatch has a focus on putting policy into practice.
Nathan Cowie – Health Promotion Advisor
Nathan joined the team in April 2017. He has previously worked in tobacco control research at the University of Auckland where he helped to develop a culturally-salient group-based stop smoking competition, complete with website and apps. He has a Masters of Public Health and undergraduate degree in Media Studies. His role will focus on alcohol policy and data, as well as strengthen the communications of AHW.
